Defying all reason, new research suggests that being a teetotaler can shorten your lifespan. 'Morning Express' correspondent Susan Hendricks examines the new research that seems to turn logic on its head. "It looks like heavy drinkers may live longer than people who never drink," Hendricks reports, "Scientists aren't sure why." University of Texas researchers followed over 1,800 people for a twenty year time period and were baffled to find that 69% of non-drinkers had died, as opposed to 60% of heavy drinkers.
"Moderate drinkers, that's one to three drinks a day, live the longest," Hendricks reports. Unsurprisingly, the study also highlighted many of the health dangers of excessive drinking, like addiction and memory loss. Sports correspondent Rafer Weigel shares his theory, "Well the lack of memory can definitely cut down on one's guilt, which can cut down on blood pressure."
