Peter McFarland is suing the Marin County, California sheriff's office after being tasered repeatedly in his own living room. 'Good Morning America' correspondent Mike Von Fremd follows the shockingly forceful treatment of this 64-year-old "cancer survivor" with a heart condition. "He slipped and injured himself on the front steps. Paramedics treated him and were leaving when two deputies entered his home," Von Fremd reports.
Deputies insisted that McFarland go the hospital, "fearing he would harm himself." Narrating the footage, Mike explains, "At first, everything seems calm, then McFarland becomes agitated." After telling the deputies to leave, they instruct him to put his hands behind his back. When Peter refuses, they resort to force. "I think Mr. McFarland has got a whale of a case," says trial attorney Mark Geragos, "This idea that somehow they needed to take him in for a psychiatric evaluation... is almost laughable."
