Cat-Toss Lady Slapped With Cruelty Charge
Remember that lady who sparked worldwide fury after she was caught on video chucking a cat into a garbage can? She's been charged in the U.K. with two counts of animal cruelty stemming from the event: one count of causing unnecessary suffering to the four-year-old tabby, Lola, and one count of not providing the cat with a suitable environment, Sky News reports. Although the cat was trapped in the trash can for about 15 hours, she didn't suffer any permanent injury, The woman, Mary Bale, a 45-year-old bank worker from Coventry, is due to appear in court to face the charges on October 19. Bale had previously released a statement saying her action was just an inexplicable and fleeting lapse. "I cannot explain why I did this," she said. "It is completely out of character and I certainly did not intend to cause any distress to Lola or her owners."
