Stop the Presses! A Baby Panda Is Born
Two words for those of you wishing to think of something other than the midterm elections this morning: baby panda. Lun Lun, a giant panda at Zoo Atlanta gave birth to her third cub Wednesday morning at 5:39 a.m. in a specially prepared birthing den, the Associated Press reports. Lun Lun, who was inseminated by sperm from the zoo's male panda, Yang Yang, in June after mating attempts failed, has previously given birth to two cubs (both also fathered by Yang Yang): Mei Lan, in 2006, and Xi Lan, in 2008. It's the only giant panda birth at a U.S. zoo so far this year. No video of the new baby has yet been made available, but if you could use a laugh after all the election intensity, check out (or rewatch) the majorly viral 2006 video clip below of some other baby panda sneezing. The mom's response just kills us every time.
