Oprah Winfrey's Whopping Farewell Bash

Oprah Winfrey threw herself a huge farewell party Tuesday night, packing somewhere between 13,000 and 20,000 fans into Chicago's United Center (where the Chicago Bulls play) for the star-studded taping of the penultimate episodes of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." (Plans for the final show, which will air on May 25, are being kept secret.) On hand to send Oprah off were celebrities including (deep breath) Tom Hanks, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Halle Berry, Madonna, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Michael Jordan, the Rascal Flatts, Jerry Seinfeld, Simon Cowell, Diane Sawyer, Patti LaBelle, Rosie O'Donnell, Tyler Perry, Usher, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Maya Angelou and Oprah's longtime beau Stedman Graham. (Phew! And that's not even all of them.) Maria Shriver, currently reeling from a marital scandal, was also on hand, pointedly thanking Oprah for always telling her "the truth." Anticipating an emotional response from the crowd, Kleenex (one of the night's sponsors) was tucked beneath every chair. Sniff.
