In this clip, a deputy sheriff in Florida asks one of the most important questions of his life over the countywide dispatch radio. 'Good Morning America' anchor Josh Elliot chronicles deputy Joseph Bracey's radio marriage proposal. In an interview, dispatcher Ashley West explains, "I heard the sheriff key-up and he said, 'Stand by for an important message.' And I was like, 'Oh, there must be something big going on in the county right now.'" According to Bracey, "I told everybody that I wasn't nervous, and I really wasn't up until the point that I actually keyed in to say it on the radio."

In the audio, Bracey identifies himself. When dispatcher West responds, "Go ahead," he makes his move. "Ashley West," Bracey says, "I love you and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" After an excruciating second of silence, West accepts.
