Women Are More Stressed Out by Money Than Men

Twenty-eight percent of women have been experiencing high anxiety when it comes to money, while only 17 percent of men have admitted to being stressed, according to the survey by Financial Finesse Inc.
After analyzing more than 1,000 people's responses to the poll, researchers also found that 9 percent of women said they were overwhelmed with "financial stress."
"Certainly a part of it is the psychology of how men and women view things," lead researcher Gregory Ward told Bloomberg.
And if children are in the mix, women get even more stressed out, the study showed.
Those who were between the ages of 30 and 44 and earned $35,000 to $74,999 were prone to worrying the most -- regardless of gender. Sixty-four percent of women surveyed said they were familiar with the concepts of stocks, bonds and mutual funds, while 84 percent of men said they were very knowledgeable about them.
But the findings showed that women weren't as likely as men to take steps to alleviate their financial anxiety.
"There is kind of a gender gap between feeling stressed about money and actually making behavioral changes," said Mary Gresham, a financial psychology specialist. "In general, men tend to be more action-oriented."
